A.C.T. now provides automated on-line financial donations through a trusted third-party organization (e-giving.org, the online portion of "The Envelope Service", the company that has been printing church giving envelopes for over 90 years).
Kinds of Transactions:
- Debit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express)
- Savings Account
- Checking Account
Frequencies Allowed:
- One-time immediate
- One-time delayed (scheduled for a future date)
- Weekly
- Bi-Weekly (every other week)
- Semi-monthly (twice a month – on the 1st and 15th of every month)
- Monthly
- Quarterly
Changes: You can change your account information, your giving amount, or your donation schedule at any time. You can cancel at any time. You can stop any transfer prior to the date it is scheduled to begin.
Fund Designations: All on-line monies automatically transfer into the A.C.T. "general fund" – so the online site will only list this fund. However, if you have a special request to designate funds to a particular project, be sure to contact Dave Warner, Executive Director of A.C.T. Inc. at dave@actoday.org to confirm that your money can be used for the purpose you desire.
Proof of Giving: You may print a copy of the confirmation screen from the e-giving web site after any transaction. You can also display and print a summary of all giving transactions for the year (or a previous year). You can also use your bank account statements as proof of giving.
Costs: E-giving is completely free for all donors. For ACH (savings or checking account) transactions, A.C.T. will pay a small transaction fee for each donation (and because of less overhead, will actually SAVE money!). Debit card donations will be charged a 2½ % surcharge (paid by A.C.T.), so we encourage donors to use ACH transactions if at all possible.
Safety: All financial transactions have some risk, but e-giving eliminates the possibility of lost, damaged, or misdirected mail, and reduces the chance of mistakes. When beginning e-giving, you will need to make an account name and password for your own account. You will need to keep this information safe, and be sure to never enter it elsewhere. A.C.T. does NOT receive any of your bank account information, and can not access your e-giving account.
Timing: All transactions are initiated at 10:00am on the day you schedule them. Automatic ACH transactions usually take roughly 3 days to complete.
E-mail Notifications: You will be notified of every transaction via email (using the email address you specify when you create your e-giving account). You can also schedule additional email reminders about anything you want.
Getting Started:
- Use the link http://giving.actoday.org
- Click on the "Register Now" button
- Fill in the requested information EXCEPT the "Organization ID or Envelope Number" (A.C.T. does not use these) – name, address, phone, and username/password choice (you can make up any username you wish as long as nobody else has already used it)
- Click on the top link to view and agree to the "Authorization Agreement"
- Click on the second link "Transaction Page" to make or schedule a donation
- As you wish, use the other links to:
- Update your personal information, account information, or donation schedule
- View your recent transactions and their status
- Display a year-to-date or previous year's transaction summary report
